Hundreds of online spectators are anxiously awaiting the arrival of a baby giraffe to the Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, New York.
April, a 15-year-old giraffe, is in labor and expected to give birth any moment now. The birth is an especially welcome gift for an endangered species.
The baby is expected to weigh 68 kilograms (150 pounds) and stand at a wobbly 1.8 meters (6 feet). Giraffes often stand while in labor, so that the calf drops to the ground – a hard but welcome hit that prompts their first breath of air.
